Ceramic Coating Demystified

True Si02 (Silicon Dioxide) and SiC (Silicon Carbide) ceramic coatings are not traditional waxes. They are liquid polymer resins that cross-link with the vehicle's clear coat at a molecular level, forming a rigid, semi-permanent quartz shield.

This barrier exhibits extreme contact angles (hydrophobicity), forcing water to bead aggressively and carry away superficial dirt. Furthermore, coatings offer superior chemical resistance against bird droppings, bug splatter, and harsh UV degradation compared to organic waxes. Application requires meticulous prep: heavy decontamination, multi-stage paint correction, and chemical surface wiping.

Carnauba vs. Synthetics

For purists, Brazilian T1 Carnauba wax remains unmatched for producing a deep, warm, "wet" gloss, particularly on darker paints like obsidian black or deep crimson. However, its organic nature means it degrades rapidly under extreme heat.

Synthetic polymer sealants bridge the gap, offering the effortless wipe-on, wipe-off application of a wax, with cross-linking polymers that stretch durability to 6-8 months, leaving a sharp, highly reflective, glass-like finish.
